The House of Steam Wants You!
We launched THOS Video Podcast because some footage just deserves better packaging. Just as THOS was the archive to dust off a thousand skate albums and encourage the archiving of new and existing photographs THOS Video Podcast was instituted to encourage the dusting off of VHS tapes and encourage original and unique new filmmaking. Footage from past and present with great music…that simple. Things are different in Itunes land and projects like this need to be viewed regularly and updated frequently or Steve Jobs comes in and pulls the plug personally (seriously). That is what makes projects like this all the more exciting though.
So if you want to support this new project the number one thing you can do as always is to contribute! Videos, Itunes friendly music, suggestions etc etc
We need you to head over to Itunes and write a couple sentences about why you dig THOS! The podcast already has subscribers in the three digit realm and is steadily climbing the skate ranks even before I write this. More reviews, quality episodes and subscribers will take us to the front page of Itunes.
Because of the nature of this project I have also added a donation jar to The Podcasts Website anyone who feels compelled to assist with the financing of this ongoing project will have their names, their links or ‘anonymous’ displayed prominently on the site and in upcoming vids and become forever known as natural born world-shakers.
There is also our ever growing Emporium of Coolness where the story continues as told by the products. (more on this later)
So lets break it all down:
Contribute (Link for sending in large audio and video files)
Write a review and tell the world what you dig about THOS.
Donate because you are a natural born world-shaker.

I’m not gonna say much about this video except thanks to Mike Vallely for getting this filmed back in the day and giving it to us for the archive and another thanks to Larry Ransom for his editing and THOS support throughout the years. Another big thanks goes to Dennis who after searching the web for this footage decided to go to the source and clinched it all. The still images are of Mikes early Vert days at The Barn and the song is Revolution Mother “Night Ride” (pretty fitting) If you comment with a time and a name I will create a gallery of screen grabs…I will get the ball rolling with an important one: 1:24 Weep on Deck.
Enjoy the show…The time is now!!
This is great. Mike talks about the first video he was in. “Action East” If I remember correctly, they showed up at The Barn with all this high-end video, lights and sound gear. It was right in the middle of a hot session. I was like, “What the hell is this???”
The guy who owned the company was like, “Can we film a video here?” and I said, “What’s in it for me?” (as if I was going to say No). This was way beyond squeezing 10 bucks out of some squid for “the new layer.” So he flowed me a “No Fun Joe” deck, a t-shirt and some other free shit and I said, “Go for it!” Of course, our power situation was a 300 yard extension cord to the house that kept blowing out. The next contest I entered as….sponsored by Action East.
Let’s see if we can get this classic film posted.

While I was in High school Steamboat sent me this gem (via US post) and I made a ton of stickers of it. I can see the original artwork framed and hanging here in The House of Steam World Headquarters as I type.
Be sure to buy Steamboats films!! They rule!
Coming soon!…. Rick’s SteamZine’s circa 1986
