Tag is blasting a big Layback Air on the pool cope side. That was our first set of pool cope before we put down Masonite. Rocky Vertone. with an old Steve Cab deck and an Evan Feen Barfoot snowboard poster on the wall.

Nice one Dennis!! Remember the days of being able to eat pizza twice a day and riding the Barn kept you looking like Bruce Lee.

Skater, artist, filmaker and inspiration for the name Team Steam Rick Steamboat Charnoski.
While I was in High school Steamboat sent me this gem (via US post) and I made a ton of stickers of it. I can see the original artwork framed and hanging here in The House of Steam World Headquarters as I type.
I have been speaking with Allen and he has expressed a willingness to cultivate an ever expanding and exciting vert scene at his DWG Vert Facility in Blairstown NJ (Which I like to think of as The Barn 2.0™) Just shoot me an email jasonoliva@gmail.com with DWG as the subject and I will make sure you experience all the Saturday afternoon (1 to 4) fun. Please send pictures!
Hi Jason,
This vid is from Sat. Allen has erected a 3.5-4 foot extension for anyone who’s up to the challenge. You will see his incredible frontside air off this thing!
Hope all is swell, Irene
ORIGINALLY POSTED JUNE 5th, 2007
Hi Jason- here are a few pics of my place – the ramp is in Blairstown NJ just
outside the Delaware Water Gap – I built it 3 years ago and it was
constructed by Team Pain and specifically Jeff Hammond – the ramp is a
smaller version of (Bob) Burnquists but with a bend from deep to shallow which
provides a very cool dynamic. 12 vert with 10.6 tranny, 13.5 on the
extensions, 7 shallow bowled corners. It is well heated for winter,
designed for natural light year round and well-maintained.
I welcome anybody who wants to come out and skate – I work in finance
during the week and my family uses this as our weekend home –
I haven’t had a moment to get myself linked into to site but I looked at it this
evening and you should be applauded for not merely a great job but you
have a real sense of the beauty of skateboarding!
all the best,
Allen
Thanks for the kind words Allen.
Allen and I were introduced by mutual friends in NYC…Who would have known he had constructed East Coast Skatings best kept secret!…Well the cats outta the bag and Allen has asked for it..hope you have a BIG couch.. he he

So SAYS THE HOUSE OF STEAM!!!! Checkout The House of Steam Online Shop: [THOS SHOP]
Well by July 20th 2007 The House of Steam will be One Year Old!!
The archive currently has over 170 entries spread across 400 searchable categories.
In order to celebrate our accomplishment I have assembled a Year One Celebration video.
I would like to thank Sophie for all her help and support with the archive.
I would like to thank all the people I have been in contact with (especially via email) who have contributed photos, stories and most importanty time.
To me The House of Steam is an open ended community driven archive. What it does and where it goes is up to you so keep contributing. It is only a matter of time before The House of Steam becomes an important peice of skate history. It is not if it is when. I recall something sprayed on the outside wall of The Barn after it was all closed up, it said…The Time is Now.
so true.

I am going to take a week vacation…see you when I get back.
Now for our next tale, at some point while I was in WHRHS(Watchung Hills Regional Hot Skater), I picked up an very old Kodak Duaflex IV twin lens reflex, with a single bulb Lumaclad Reflector flash, at a garage sale for $5.00 (pretty steep, but well worth it). These were made by Kodak from 1947 to 1960 (mine looks mid ’50s).
I shot all my Graphic Arts photos with this old thing. I took it on skate trips too. During the summer of 1988 (Aug.), we hit the Blue Metal in OC (many times) and I took the attached shots.
Rick Charno did a head high BS Mute air. If you look close, it looks like he has two heads.
Geoff Graham slid a crazy FS rail grind at a high rate of speed.
Darren “the Moose” Menditto, chuck a huge FS tuck knee, that was a complete blur.
This was the life. The Bay was a block to my right and the Beach was 3 blocks to my left. We had a free place to stay and we skated all day for free with the best skaters on the East Coast.
I still have this old Kodak, and they now sell for $20 bucks on eBay.

Jason,
I just saw Steve yesterday. He was really warmed inside by the images, stories and memories our our “fellowship”.
So, I went back and dug up this little gem. On a warm and sunny day in April 1991, we took a ride to the park in Reading, PA. – Fraz drove me, Jim and Steve.
– Steve (two fisted) blasting out of one bowl, super fast, into another. All 4 kids in the park just stopped and watched. The only thing more priceless than the blank, WTF? look on this kids face, is the fact that Steve rode all day in Rubber Duck Boots. This should be a L.L. Bean ad.
– Basking in the Sun!
