Who believes The Raging Lamos should compile all of their music (live and studio) onto one CD along with a comic of all the Lamos art work and offer it for sale! Just thinking out loud here…if you agree leave an arm twisting style comment (Jay Henry knows how to write those type follow his lead)

Thank Geoff these are really knock the skin off the ball.

PS here is a live Lamos track from CBGB’s for you to ENJOY

379: Benjamin P. Cornish presents: Demo! The Love of Destruction 1992

This classic documentary about Demolition Derby’s was Produced and Directed by Team Steam’s Ben Cornish circa 1992. Ben was famous for his homebrew movies during High School and college we all either helped or appeared in one or another (anyone remember Pall Mall, Head Banger from Hell, and the infamous Great Deoderant race). If I recall as a graduating final project he produced this masterpeice. Not only is it an incredibly insightful look into the wastefullness of American culture through the use of interviews it was hella fun and exciting to watch. Ben actually modifies a car and enters a Demo Derby by the end.

Who can forget the opening scene….A pounding bass line as a Mike Myers looking mechanic walks up to a car and smashes out the windows preparing it for Demo Derby specs and later the tribal Indian music as the car was decorated!!

It was premeired in New Jersey at a rented out theater all of Ben’s family and friends where in attendance with a shindig to follow. It later aired in a German Film Festival.

If you would like to see this and any other of Ben’s incredible films then start posting comments begging him to you tube it all for our pleasure!!!

Oh yeah….” This film is so damm AMERICAN it’ll make you PUKE!!: is the greatest tagline of all time.

I origanlly posted this back way back in 2006 and its finally here…thanks Ben!!

It looks like WordPress has given me the power to include audio in the archive so what better way to test it out then to pass along this opener from a Raging Lamos gig at CBGB’s NYC (not sure of the date)  If you want more RL’s let me know in the comment section.

300: Team Steam Trading Cards (series 1): Circa 1986

So here we have Series 1 (series 2 to be scanned and posted soon) of the Team Steam Trading cards. All of which were created on the old school printing press in our High School graphics arts department. No scans or xerox here just plain old Mr. Abella taught newspaper printing press/ dark room technology. I can still smell the ink and feel my bleary eyes after long hours of cutting class and hiding in the dark room. There are about 10 or so additional skaters in series 2 including The Barn itself and Team Steams House band The Raging Lamos. Look for another post with those as soon as I sort out a new British scanner.

So this looks to be around 91-92 The Raging Lamos played at the indoor park in Brick Township… Ill let dennis tell it..

jason

I think that that was at the Brick NJ indoor skate park (Impact Zone) contest/Raging Lamos jam (c. ’91-’92). You know the one. Jim sent in a group shot. (However, I may be totally wrong). I am sporting an old skull bucket that one of the Charno Brothers gave me, which I still wear. That might be Tag’s hand hold the seat. If I was to guess, Rocky with his hand up in the back. He often did that. I do not remember Ian by name, but that could be him. Anytime someone asks me to hold a hair for then to do an invert on, I always seem to say “Sure!”

122: Bryan Kienlen of The Bouncing Souls checks in with The House of Steam

I grew up in Basking Ridge, watching Jay Henry, Greg Colescott and Tom Groholski
skate Jay’s ramp, the Barn and the GirlRamp(Purdy’s house). I was just a
grom hanging out with my bud Wig. We’d skate the ditch, then hit the Barn
and the Girly ramp, where we learned a lot. I remember Weepy (r.i.p.)very
well too. Although I was always intimidated as a grom, the Kanes and all
the guys that skated the Barn were cool to us. I almost broke my wrist
learning to drop in at the barn, being cheered on the the older guys. I
eventually got better over the years. I’ve included a picture of my
backyard ramp, (built entirely on stolen wood ha ha). Here is a pic of me
and my pal Sean learning at the Barn. (I’m the one standing on the
platform, Sean’s working on the frontside) The other is me chucking an Indy
air at the Girl Ramp. (Dig the old Dogtown deck) I wish I had more pics
to share, but it’s rad that you guys have a site, Wig turned me on to it.
I’ve lost touch with Jay Henry, but am newly in touch with Greg Colescott if
you guys remember who he was. He was a kid who moved from Huntington to
Basking Ridge and skated Jay’s house all the time in the mid eighties. I
also keep tabs on the Raging Lamos/Stevie D. I went on to start a band,
we’re called The Bouncing Souls and are still at it, making lots of records
and touring all the time. Thanks a lot!

Thanks Bryan!!

The first time I saw The Bouncing Souls I was standing in a driveway and they were in a garage it was near Rutgers (i think) and a handful of peeps got together to hear them play one Saturday afternoon. They did a kick ass cover of FEAR’s I dont care about you. Well they have moved on to some lofty heights since those days in the late 80’s I guess its all NJ music history now. Head over to their website and buy all their T’s and records…
